Some famous places disappoint because the crowd overwhelms the object. The Alhambra does not, mainly because it is large and the Nasrid Palaces use timed entry. What it does demand is planning, several weeks of it in high season.
How the ticket works
General admission covers the Alcazaba, the Generalife gardens and the Nasrid Palaces, but the palaces carry a fixed half hour entry slot printed on your ticket. Miss it and you do not get in. Everything else is flexible.

- Buy from the official site only, resellers add substantial fees
- Bring your passport, names are checked against tickets
- Allow three hours minimum for the full complex
